Pesky Pests
They're pesky bugs, and they're getting a head-start on the season. Bay County's Mosquito Control District says they're getting flooded with phone-calls from residents reporting thousands of mosquitoes breeding in their backyards.
"We've had problems with them before but never like this," said one resident
She and her family were even driven out of her yard by the pests.
She's one of many in the area searching for pest control, concerned about diseases they can carry, like the West Nile Virus.
Mosquito Control Director Frank Wakefield has been answering phone-calls from residents like her.
He says they'd already anticipated an early season after rainfalls last month.
Wakefield says there are easy ways to prevent breeding in the yard, like making sure plants are watered regularly instead of putting them on trays filled with water for several days.
Mosquito Control officials say at this point they can't tell if it will be a particularly bad season. They're hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.
